The Brown Gallery
(Los Angeles, March 3, 2012)

At the Brown Gallery which held an exhibition of musician
and photographer Chris Otcaset, Richard Chamberlain acquired
the photography below.

" Both an artist and musician, Chris Otcasek attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. Subsequently, Chris was a recording artist with Capitol/EMI Records. For the past 12 years he has worked as an
Art Director and Lead Artist for the video games industry in Los Angeles.

These large 44" x 44" and 36" x 36" pieces are part of a photographic series entitled 'LowRes'. All images were taken using an iPhone 3, 3GS or iPhone 4. Chris states, "The ubiquitous nature of the cell allows me to capture 'on the fly' and exploit the full potential of the world around me. I purposely avoided mocked up scenes or invented moments. Rather, I stumbled on things
‘as they were’ and highlighted that which I found just perfect or too
obvious to ignore.”

Chris adds, “This was not so much a focus on photography, per se. That is,
I was more interested in the spontaneity of using the phone as my witness. Ultimately, I’m driven by my profound respect for design and absolute reverence for symmetry, scale and proportion... even through the
eye of a phone.""
